Second tank, fuel line, switch over, heater.
6 port switch or 2 3s as you also have to switch the return line as well.
Looping the return with a tigerloop will also speed up changeover times.
Using the heater to heat both lines, oil and Diesel, means the pump will heat faster and allow a faster changeover.
People generally agree heating diesel is bad but add 10% SVO to the diesel for lubrication and you will be fine.

I've also got a Rover 218D with a Pug engine. I'm planning on having a preheater fitted then run a oil/diesel mix in one tank.
Why bother with fitting a second tank? Surely running with a preheater means you don't have to bother with waiting for the engine to heat up then switch over?
Or is there something really important that I'm not aware of?
Can anyone suggest which model to go for? I was going to for either the 2B or 2D models but I'm open to suggestions

The Lucas pump is the problem. After a while they tend to break from the cold oil at strat-up.
